Lemon Rasam


• 1/2 cup Arhar Dal
• 4 Tomatoes
• 2 Green chilies ( cut length wise )
• 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
• 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
• 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
• 1/4 tsp Turmeric
• 1/4 tsp Mustard
• 2 Red Chilies or to taste
• 1 Lemon
• 1/2 tsp Ghee
• Salt to taste
• Curry leaves a few
• Corriander Leaves( a small bunch washed and finely chopped )
• Ginger (finely chopped)
• Hing a small pinch


1. Cook arhar dal with turmeric and 2 cups of water. 
2. Add chopped tomatoes, green chilies, ginger, hing, and salt, to this and let this cook for 5-10 minutes. Let it cool, blend and strain.
3. Heat some ghee, splutter mustard, then add cumin seeds, red chilies, and curry leaves, and add cumin powder, and pepper powder before mixing this to the boiling rasam.
4. Squeeze lemon juice and garnish with chopped corriander leaves.
5. Serve hot.
