Masoor Soup


• 1cup lentil (whole masoor gram)
• 1 medium tomato
• 1 small onion (finely chopped)
• 1 tbsp. ghee or oil
• 1/2 tsp. Chili powder
• 1/8 tsp. Turmeric powder
• Salt according to taste
• A pinch of asafoetida
• A pinch of Cumin seeds
• A pinch of Mustard seeds
• 2 tsp. Lemon juice
• 2-3 cup water


1. Pressure cook lentil. Mash it properly & keep aside.
2. Cut tomato & onion into pieces & blend it in the mixer till crushed properly.
3. Put ghee in a pan & heat. Put asafoetida, cumin and mustard seeds. Allow it to splutter.
4. Let Ghee cool down for a while. Now put red chili powder, turmeric powder.
5. Add the blended paste to it & stir.
6. Cover the pan with lid & cook on medium for 5 minutes.
7. Add lentil & water & lemon juice, Stir and bring it to boil.
8. Garnish with corriander & serve hot.
