Aryna Sabalenka capped her US Open 2025 triumph with a tender celebration as she was warmly greeted by her boyfriend, Brazilian entrepreneur Georgios Frangulis, moments after defending her title at Flushing Meadows.
The World No. 1 overpowered American Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 7-6 (3) in Saturday’s final to secure her second successive crown in New York and fourth Grand Slam overall, becoming the first woman since Serena Williams in 2014 to achieve back-to-back US Open victories.
While her commanding display on court highlighted her dominance, the post-match embrace and kiss with Frangulis, founder of global superfood brand Oakberry, revealed the softer side of the Belarusian champion.
Sabalenka also had words of encouragement for Anisimova, who suffered defeats in back-to-back Grand Slam finals. Earlier this year, the American was swept aside by Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon title clash. Praising Anisimova’s remarkable comeback, Sabalenka backed her to eventually lift a major, applauding both her level of tennis and the resilience she has shown.
US Open 2025 Final Highlights
“All the tough lessons make this moment worth it. I’m truly speechless. Congrats to Amanda on reaching back-to-back Slam finals. I know how much it hurts to lose at this stage, but trust me—the day you win your first one, and you will, it will feel even sweeter. You play incredible tennis.
“Congrats to you and your team on everything you’ve achieved since your comeback. Girl, the tough losses will make that victory even more special,” Sabalenka added.
For Sabalenka, the triumph marked her first title since last year’s US Open. Having finished runner-up at both Wimbledon and the French Open earlier this season, she finally made amends at Flushing Meadows.
The Belarusian had also stumbled in the Wimbledon semifinals, falling to Anisimova in straight sets. With her victory in New York, Sabalenka notched her 100th career win at Grand Slam tournaments.
