*Jasprit Bumrah fine-tuning his lethal bowling.*
Jasprit Bumrah arrived at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground nets with a clear mission. The Indian pace spearhead immediately went to work, showcasing his signature shoulder motion before launching into an intense spell.
After a few gentle warm-up deliveries, Bumrah increased his pace, and the coaching staff measured his run-up for a focused 20-minute burst. With several key batsmen absent, Bumrah tested the likes of Sai Sudharsan, Ravindra Jadeja, and Karun Nair.
Bumrah's performance was comprehensive, challenging batsmen with accuracy and varying his angles, bowling around the wicket to left-handers and utilizing the crease's width for right-handers. His fresh mental state, aided by a three-day break, was evident as he bowled alongside Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.
The trio, who participated in the Headingley Test, trained purposefully on the second day in Birmingham. Each bowler spent about thirty minutes honing their skills before practicing their batting.
Siraj focused on leaves, ducks, and forward defense under the guidance of batting coach Sitanshu Kotak. Bumrah, displaying his versatility, sampled various aspects of the session, from side-armers to slow bowlers and throwdowns. He also engaged in shadow practice while awaiting his turn to bat, demonstrating growing confidence throughout the day.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja continued his batting practice, while Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep sought to impress. Kuldeep Yadav diligently worked on both his batting and bowling.
The left-arm wrist-spinner actively sought feedback from the support staff and teammates, experimenting with new angles and lengths. The dry conditions in Birmingham could favor Kuldeep's inclusion in the second Test.
Kuldeep has also dedicated considerable time to refining his batting skills under head coach Gautam Gambhir and Sitanshu Kotak. Over the past 18 months, he has focused on making meaningful contributions with the bat.
After two days of intense practice, the team will take a break before regrouping on June 30. The bowlers will have time to rest, while bowling coach Morne Morkel can continue his light-hearted wrestling sessions with Arshdeep and Akash Deep. The suspense surrounding Bumrah's participation will persist for at least the next 48 hours.
