Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh had to wait for 8 long months, but he finally became the first Indian player to reach the milestone of 100 T20I wickets. The left-arm seamer made his debut in 2022 against New Zealand and since then has been picking up wickets at a rapid pace.
The T20I specialist was stuck at 99 wickets after India opted to bench the fast bowler in the last two matches against England back in January 2025. With no T20I matches scheduled before the Asia Cup, the seamer had to wait for a long time to reach his milestone.
He was made to wait in the Asia Cup as well after India decided to opt for only one specialist fast bowler in their ranks. Jasprit Bumrah played the first two games with a trove of spinners around him. Arshdeep got his chance in the third group-stage game of the tournament. He finished with the figures of 4-0-37-1.

Arshdeep not only became the first Indian player to pick up 100 T20I wickets, he now also holds the record for being the fastest seamer to 100 wickets in the format. He achieved the milestone in only 64 matches.
Amongst the full member nations, he is the 3rd fastest to 100 T20I wickets only behind Rashid Khan (53 matches) and Wanindu Hasaranga (63 matches).
Arshdeep remains the fastest among the pacers (full member nations), followed by Haris Rauf (71) and Mark Adair (72).
On Friday, Arshdeep did not exactly have a great day with the ball. Playing international cricket after a long time, Arshdeep looked quite rusty. After failing to pick up wickets in the powerplay, Arshdeep was hit for runs in his return spell. The pacer picked up his 100th in the first ball of the final over of the game against Oman.
Arshdeep dug the ball short on off stump, which forced batter Vinayak Shukla into an awkward position while playing the pull shot. The ball went high up in the air to mid-on where Rinku Singh calmly collected the catch at deep mid wicket.
