Arsenal has shaken things up at the top. Executive Vice-Chair Tim Lewis is stepping down, while Managing Director Richard Garlick has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. The move marks a new chapter in the club’s boardroom, aiming to combine off-field strategy with on-pitch ambition.
Lewis, who has been advising Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) since 2007 and joined Arsenal’s board in 2020, played a key role during a transformative period for the Gunners. Garlick, who arrived as Director of Football Operations in 2021 and has spent the past year as Managing Director, now takes the reins, bringing continuity and fresh energy to the executive team.
“Rich has made an enormous impact on all fronts as we continue to strive to win major trophies, be financially sustainable and put our supporters at the heart of everything,” said Arsenal Co-Chair Josh Kroenke.
“At this moment, we would like to thank Tim for his continued dedication and commitment to Arsenal in a period of transformational change for the club. He has played a pivotal role and ensured we are in a great position to continue to deliver our strategy in our ambition to win major trophies.”
Under this leadership, Arsenal has remained ambitious on the transfer front, adding the striker fans had long wanted in Sweden’s Viktor Gyokeres, while bolstering the attack with England’s Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze, and strengthening the defence with Spanish youngster Cristhian Mosquera.
The Gunners have also made a solid start to their season, opening their UEFA Champions League campaign with a 2-0 win over Athletic Club. In the Premier League, Arsenal currently sit second in the table behind Liverpool, with three wins from their four matches so far, keeping their fans dreaming of ending the 21-year league title drought.
