US Open women's singles champion Aryna Sabalenka had a hilarious slip-up on NBC’s TODAY Show on Monday morning, September 9. Sabalenka mistakenly addressed Carlos Alcaraz as Jannik Sinner on live TV, a moment that went viral on social media.
Sabalenka, who became the first woman since Serena Williams in 2015 to defend her US Open title, was chatting to the TV panel about her off-court talents. As she explained that she had to do a TikTok with the men's singles champion, Sabalenka addressed Alcaraz as Sinner, the Spaniard's rival in the tennis circuit.
“I’m terrible at dancing! I always pick the easiest moves just so I look OK. Anyway, I have a TikTok to do with Jann-r, Jann” she burst out in laughs after realising her mistake.

Alcaraz, one of the funniest players on the circuit, jokingly pretended to grab his trophy and walk off set.
“It’s nine in the morning, don’t worry. It’s all good, it’s all good,” joked Alcaraz.
Carlos Alcaraz reclaimed the World No.1 ranking after lifting the US Open 2025 title. On Sunday, September 7, the Spaniard took two hours and 42 minutes to defeat Jannik Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in front of a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium.
On the other hand, Sabalenka beat Amanda Anisimova 6–3, 7–6(3) in the final of this edition of the competition. On September 6, Sabalenka took just an hour and 34 minutes to win 6-3, 7-6(3) in the grand finale at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The victory marked her fourth Grand Slam title, adding to her two Australian Open triumphs.
