2nd seed Carlos Alcaraz stormed into the final of the US Open 2025 after hammering Novak Djokovic in straight sets. After setting up the summit clash against Jannik Sinner, Alcaraz spoke about his budding rivalry with the Italian and how he is not worried about his future legacy in the sport.

Speaking at the press conference after his victory against the 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic, Alcaraz recounted Roger Federer's advice. The Spaniard said that his focus is on the next five years, and he is not being swayed by the hype of the big two (Sincaraz) from the fans.

“One person (Federer) once told me that you don't have to think about 35, 38 years old, still playing at that age. He told me you have to be focused on the next five years, from here to when I am 27. And then, when I get 27, then think about five years more. So it's not about thinking in 15 or 20 years,” Alcaraz said.

“I will try to follow his words,” concluded the Spaniard.

US Open 2025 semi-finals: Highlights

Alcaraz and Sinner have established themselves as the top two in men's singles. This year, they have already played 2 out of the 3 Grand Slam finals and are poised to play in the summit clash of the US Open as well.

Their domination in the tennis circuit has meant that for the first time since 2002, a calendar year has passed without Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal reaching a Grand Slam final.

In 2025, Alcaraz beat Sinner in a 5-set battle at Roland Garros, while the Italian got the better of the Spaniard in a 4-set battle at Wimbledon.

Both have dominated their matches in the US Open this year, with Sinner dropping just two sets in the tournament so far. On the other hand, Alcaraz has been clinical and is yet to drop a set in the tournament.

Alcaraz Ready for Sinner's Intensity

Speaking about the final much before Sinner's game against Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alcaraz opened up on the experience of playing Sinner. The Spaniard spoke highly of the World No. 1's intensity and how it has started to become a problem for all the players across the world.

A glimpse of that ruthlessness was seen in Sinner's match against Auger-Aliassime, where he pounced upon the slightest of opportunities in the fourth set of the match. After being gifted a break via double fault in the 4th set of the match, Sinner wiped out the Canadian with surgical precision, sealing his finals berth against Alcaraz.

“I think the last two years, he has improved a lot physically. His matches are really demanding physically he's able to play at his 100% during two, three, four hours,” Alcaraz said.

“For me, I think the consistency and not having the up-and-downs in the matches,” he concluded.

The final between Sinner and Alcaraz will start at 11:30 PM IST.
