India ODI captain Rohit Sharma urged his fans to stop chanting his name during his visit to Lord Ganesh temple. Rohit has been on a long break ever since the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and is set to return to action in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia in October.
Recently, the opening batter was seen seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesh in Mumbai ahead of his return to international cricket. Seeing Rohit in the temple, the excited crowd began chanting his name, calling him ‘Mumbai cha raja (Mumbai’s King)’, in their usual style. However, he immediately requested them to stop the chants, out of reverence for the almighty.

Meanwhile, images of Rohit’s stunning transformation have been also going viral on social media where the 38-year-old is looking a lot leaner. His airport look was widely shared by fans, where Rohit could be seen dressed in all black outfit, looking fit as ever for the upcoming series.
Recently, the star batter also cleared the pre-season fitness test along with Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah and Jitesh Sharma, conducted at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru.
Ahead of the Australia ODI series, Rohit may also appear for India A against Australia A in three one-day matches at Kanpur on September 30, October 3 and 5. The confirmation for that is yet to come, but he’s is likely to stay back in the city for a few more days to train at the COE.
Rohit’s last appearance for team India came during their victorious campaign of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The India captain scored a match-winning 76 (83) against New Zealand in the final to help India chase down 252 in 49 overs. He was deservedly adjudged Player of the Match in India’s four-wicket win.
