Pant and Bumrah Shine in Latest ICC Test Rankings
The latest ICC Test rankings showcase significant movements following a week of compelling performances in both Test and T20I cricket. Rishabh Pant of India and Ben Duckett of England are the major headlines, both reaching career-high rankings after remarkable batting displays in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings following his twin centuries at Headingley. His scores of 134 and 118 made him only the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Andy Flower of Zimbabwe in 2001, to achieve hundreds in both innings of a match. Pant is also the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to surpass 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter globally, followed by his fellow countryman Harry Brook in second place. India’s captain, Shubman Gill, has also made progress, climbing five places to reach 20th after his elegant century in the first innings.
Jasprit Bumrah, India's premier fast bowler, maintains his position as the world's No. 1 Test bowler, thanks to another five-wicket haul at Headingley. England’s Ben Stokes, with contributions from both bat and ball, has risen three places to claim the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings – his highest in recent months.
In the T20I rankings, the tri-series in Glasgow featuring the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland has led to considerable changes. Dutch batter Michael Levitt has jumped 16 places to 14th after a series of consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen has also made an impression, climbing 20 spots to joint 38th.
With the ICC rankings serving as the key indicator of individual excellence, every run and wicket continues to shape the competitive landscape of cricket.
