An Indian delegation, spearheaded by Gujarat's Sports Minister Harsh Sanghavi and the IOA President PT Usha, formally proposed Ahmedabad as the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games to the Commonwealth Sport Evaluation Committee in London. The bid emphasises affordability, inclusivity, and sustainability, with a focus on para-sport integration and human rights.

An Indian delegation presented a formal proposal to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad to the Commonwealth Sport Evaluation Committee in London on Tuesday. The delegation was led by Gujarat's Sports Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Indian Olympic Association President P T Usha for this historic centenary edition marking 100 years of the Commonwealth Sport Movement.The Gujarat government has confirmed that Ahmedabad's bid includes international-standard venues, efficient transport systems, and quality accommodation facilities, all within a compact games footprint.The proposal emphasises affordability, inclusivity, flexibility, and sustainability principles. It includes provisions for para-sport integration, human rights protection, gender equity promotion, and a long-term legacy framework benefiting athletes, communities, and the Commonwealth."Hosting the Centenary Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad will be a proud milestone, not just for Gujarat but for India. We see these Games as a catalyst - to inspire our youth, accelerate our journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047, and strengthen the Commonwealth Movement for the next 100 years," said minister Sanghavi."India's bid is not just about capability, but about values. Ahmedabad is ready to pick up the baton from Glasgow 2026 and act as a springboard to the 2034 Games, ensuring that the centenary edition honours the past while shaping the future of Commonwealth Sport," stated Usha.The bid has received coordinated support from both the Central and Gujarat governments, along with the Commonwealth Games Association of India.
