India U19 Clinch Series Victory Over Australia U19 with Suryavanshi, Mhatre Shining

India Under 19 beat Australia Under 19 by 51 runs in the second youth ODI on Wednesday, September 24 at Ian Healy Oval, Brisbane. After being put in to bat first, India got all out for 300 in 49.4 overs as Vaibhav Suryavanshi (70 off 68), Vihaaan Malhotra (70 off 74) and Abhigyan Kundu (71 off 64) played marvellous knocks.

In reply, Australia were bundled out for 249 in 47.2 overs with captain Ayush Mhatre (3/27, 4 overs) emerging as the pick of the bowlers with his three-wicket haul. On the other hand, Kanishk Chouhan also picked up 2/50 in ten overs.

India didn’t get off to a great start as Ayush Mhatre returned to the pavilion for a two-ball duck. After Mhatre’s early departure, Vihaan Malhotra joined Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the middle and added 117 runs for the second wicket off 111 balls. Suryavanshi brought up his half century off 54 balls with a maximum against Kasey Barton.

After reaching his milestone, he began dealing in boundaries and was eventually dismissed for 70 (68). During his innings, he clobbered six sixes and broke Unmukt Chand’s record for hitting most sixes in Youth ODIs. Following his dismissals, Vihaan Malhotra and Abhigyan Kundu guided India to 300.

In reply, Australia got off to the worst possible start as Indian bowlers ran through their top order, dismissing Simon Budge (14 off 36), Steven Hogan (14 off 19), Alex Turner (24 off 62) and Yash Deshmukh (1 off 8) cheaply.

Amid wickets falling, Jayden Draper walked in at number five and held one end. Draper emerged as the lone warrior for Australia with his breathtaking innings and brought up his century off 65 balls. He was eventually dismissed for 107 (72) after smashing eight fours and five sixes.

Following their massive win, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series with the last match set to be played on September 26 at the same venue.
