Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan took to social media to mark a historic T20 milestone and, in his signature cheeky style, took a subtle dig at Pakistan. He highlighted how India has consistently had the upper hand against their arch-rivals in T20 cricket, tracing the streak back to 2007.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Pathan celebrated India’s historic triumph in the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup, where the Men in Blue defeated Pakistan in the final. He wrote, "What a day it was back in 2007. Where our World Cup dream was fulfilled. Beating Pakistan regularly started there in T20 cricket."
Pathan has also been critical of Pakistan’s players and their recent on-field antics during the Asia Cup, which took place amid heightened political tensions between the two nations. Some of these actions included Sahibzada Farhan’s gun celebration after scoring a fifty and Haris Rauf’s fighter-jet gesture. India, in contrast, maintained a composed approach, often avoiding customary handshakes or public displays of emotion during the clashes. Ryan ten Doeschate, India's assistant coach heaped praise on the players for not stooping to their level as well ahead of their game agianst Bangladesh.
